The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education has published explicit instructions for government employees’ political participation and use of social media platforms.
According to the notification, government personnel are not permitted to participate in political demonstrations, processions, or gatherings. They are also prohibited from utilizing their official position or government standing to wield political power.
The agency has also stressed that government personnel are completely prohibited from engaging in any type of political advocacy, support, or opposition on social media, including personal accounts.
The notification states that any breach of these instructions would result in departmental action, including disciplinary actions in accordance with applicable rules and regulations.
