ISLAMABAD (Speaks ) Imaan Mazar and her husband, Hadi Ali Chatha, have been ordered by a district and session court to be arrested and appear before it within 24 hours after missing a hearing in the contentious Twitter case.
Judge Afzal Majoka questioned Islamabad Police DIG Javed Tariq on the arrest warrants’ non-execution during the hearing.
Regardless of whether the suspects are in Pakistan, India, or Afghanistan, the court stated that the police must act. The judge issued a strong order to execute the warrants, threatening to start contempt of court charges if they weren’t.
The court was reassured by the DIG that the warrants will be carried out. The court then declared a break, cautioning that disobedience to the directives may lead to charges of contempt.
The DIG and the FIA Director were called before the court at the beginning of the hearing to provide an explanation for the absence of Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chatha.
Judge Majoka questioned the police about their locations and chastised them for disobeying the arrest orders.
The FIA Director and DIG Operations were called to appear in person by the court, which took serious note of the circumstances.
Subsequently, the sessions court granted officials a full day to apprehend Mazari and her spouse in connection with the case.
