ISLAMABAD (Speaks): Former prime minister Imran Khan announced on Saturday that he will contest the conviction in the Islamabad High Court and called for a mass protest after a court sentenced him to prison in the Toshakhana-II case.
While incarcerated, the PTI head is unable to use his social media accounts.
“I have instructed Sohail Afridi, the chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, to be ready for the street protest. According to the transcript of the discussion between the PTI leader and his attorney that was shared on X, he stated, “The entire nation will have to rise for its rights.”
He said that his sentencing in this instance was not unexpected, but he had requested that his legal team appeal the ruling to the supreme court. The Toshakhana-II ruling is nothing new to me, just like the unfair rulings and penalties of the previous three years. He said that his legal team was “not even heard” and that the court made this ruling in a hurry without providing any proof or meeting the legal standards.
The Insaf Lawyers Forum and the legal community will inevitably “come to the front foot” in support of the restoration of the Constitution and the supremacy of law, according to the PTI head. He claimed that economic growth was impossible without fairness.
