Pakistan has made the Financial Times’ renowned list of “50 holidays to take in 2025,” with the journal citing the country’s “dramatic mountain scenery” and improving security as important factors for its inclusion.
The UK-based international business newspaper praised northern Pakistan, notably the Gilgit-Baltistan area, for its breathtaking scenery and the rising popularity of its tourist industry.
Gilgit-Baltistan is home to some of the world’s highest peaks, making it an ideal destination for mountaineers, trekkers, and adventurers. Every year, hundreds of visitors and climbers visit the region to participate in adventures, paragliding, and other adventurous activities.
The Financial Times said that improved security, infrastructure, and accessibility, including more flights to gateways like as Skardu and Gilgit, have made northern Pakistan more appealing to tourists.
The journal also mentioned Pakistan’s plan to offer free online visas to nationals of over 120 nations beginning in August 2024, which will make travel to the area even easier.
In addition to trekking and mountaineering, the Financial Times emphasized the chance to explore the region’s rich cultural legacy. It referred to a 14-day guided trip by Wild Frontiers that provided a thorough immersion in the region’s culture, history, and landscapes, with six days dedicated to hiking.
This accolade follows similar acknowledgements from worldwide media sites. CNN featured Gilgit-Baltistan in its list of 25 places to visit in 2025 earlier this year, cementing the region’s growing image as a must-see tourism destination.
Radio Pakistan praised the accolade, describing it as a monument to the country’s efforts to promote its diversified tourism options.
The official broadcaster emphasized that with continuing infrastructural upgrades, Pakistan would become a major destination for adventure and cultural tourism in the coming years.
